Ian Hammonds, PhD Candidate, LMFT-Supervisor, LPC-Supervisor
I am currently working on my PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant International University. My joke is that I love relationships so much that I am getting a doctorate in them!
For the record, I am affirming of ALL sexualities, genders, relationships, gender identities, and cultural backgrounds. I make sure to stay ethically sound by keeping myself informed, trained, and open to new information so that I can grow and change... Not only as a therapist but as a human. Y'ALL MEANS ALL.
My Specialties
If you are experiencing difficulty in communicating with those who matter most to you, you’ve come to the right place. I will provide you with a safe space and a non-judgmental environment.
Regardless of how new or old these painful experiences are, I am here to help you and assure quality treatment so that your journey through life will be lighter and a more positive experience. I enjoy working with clients experiencing addiction, shame, grief, trauma, and familial abuse, families coping with new or existing illness, and clients in substance abuse recovery.
My specialties include extensive experience in couples therapy as I have treated individual clients as well as couples who very recently experienced a relational or attachment trauma and needed therapy to help heal and move forward. I utilize the empirically-supported systemic approach as well as build a community of support around my clients.
I graduated from the University of Houston in 2012 with my BS in Psychology (and minor in Philosophy). I moved to Dallas when I was accepted into Southern Methodist University's fabulous program in counseling where I obtained my MS in 2016. I became licensed in 2017 and have been practicing full time in private practice. ever since!
